This course is designed to reach practitioners of Chinese medicine at all levels of dietary knowledge and will be a survey of Chinese dietary theory, dietary counseling, Earth School theory, and pulse analysis skills training. We will review some general principles and then explore specific concepts related to the Digestive System, including food signatures and affinities, tongue diagnosis, as well as provide hands-on experience and training in Shen-Hammer and Classical pulse techniques related to diagnosing all facets of the digestive system and its energetics. Each student will leave with a clearer understanding of how to utilize dietary counseling in their practice.
Goals and Objectives:
1. Students will gain a clearer understanding of Chinese dietary theory and the energetics of the digestive system.
2. Students will learn food signatures and affinities as well as importance of the 5 flavors.
3. Students will learn specific tongue characteristics related to digestive system imbalances.
4. Students will acquire practical hands-on skills for pulse analysis that will aid them in making accurate dietary diagnoses and food recommendations.
